The corner of 25th Street and Standard Avenue has a new name: Ace Way.
Named after the ACE Project, which works with children and families who have been impacted by gun violence.
Members, supporters and volunteers gathered outside the ACE Place on Wednesday to celebrate the change, sponsored by members of Metro Council.
Executive Director Rose Smith has been leading the organization since she lost her son to gun violence.
“You know, I had someone tell me, ACE is more than an organization, it’s an organism,” Smith said. “I felt that deep in my spirit because Ace is alive, it breathes through every survivor, every child, every volunteer, and every act of compassion that has kept us going.”
The ACE Project is partnering with “Just Creations” next week, where a portion of sales will go toward supporting their programs.
