A local organization is stepping up as the Louisville community works to find solutions to the recent string of violence involving teenagers.
Sowing Seeds with Faith is hosting a summer camp aimed at teaching students to stay on the right path both academically and socially.
On Saturday, Louisville Metro Councilwoman Tammy Hawkins stopped by to discuss the impact of gun violence, teen trends and perceptions.
She also led a conversation on the importance of bridging the generational gap between young people and the senior population.
“How can the city be a vessel for the teens? You know, just meeting them where they’re at, finding out what resources they need to help them be successful, such as not losing kids to the violence,” Hawkins said. “I think it starts in spaces like this.”
The camp began in June and runs through next Saturday.
